Enjoying vast resources of oil and gas, Iran has experienced generations of upstream contracts since the very beginning of oil production in the resource-rich country. Those contracts have ranged from privilege deals to service and joint ventures. However, Iran is ushering into a new era to experience some modern models of upstream oil and gas contracts.Our conference could be a major opportunity for intellectuals and academics from around the world to get together and share their knowledge and expertise in oil and gas law.

Considering these historic developments, the Allameh Tabataba’i University (ATU), as the main organizer of the OUOGC, intends to help create some new methods for optimization of upstream oil and gas contracts.

Major proposed scopes of conference are as below: upstream contracts;‌ explanation of win-win approach in concluding upstream contracts, the framework for participation of Iranian companies, requirements and exceptions of upstream contract in common fields, preservative production of resources and enhancement of exploitation coefficient during useful life of field, absorption of contractual model for foreign and domestic investment, challenges facing technical knowledge and technology transfer, adaptive investigation of upstream contracts in different legal systems, opportunities and jurisdictional possibilities, legal challenges and barriers.
